Investigation Suggests Death Not Result of Crash

Lake County Sheriffs Police say a preliminary investigation indicates a 54-year-old Hebron man who died after a single car crash near Crown Point Saturday did not die as a result of the automobile accident. Lake County Sheriffs Police say the man, identified as Kenneth Owens, experienced a health condition that caused him to drive his 2005 Ford Mustang off the roadway. At about 7 pm, the Lake County Traffic Reconstruction Unit and Cpl. Mike Miller responded to the 2100 block of East State Road 231 in Crown Point reference to a crash with a fatality. Owens was pronounced dead at an area hospital. Police say the vehicle traveled approximately 55 feet along a grassy area, coming to rest in some brush and small trees. There was no apparent trauma to the victim, police say, and his air bag did not deploy. The crash remains under investigation.
