The city of Valparaiso is putting together a request for funds from the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority (RDA) for a planned transit hub at a location yet-to-be-determined downtown. Mayor Jon Costas in his recent State of the City address, said the “unprecedented success” of the ChicaGo Dash commuter bus service to Chicago means the city has already outgrown the current transportation campus. "We must now find an alternative site and construct a new campus that can serve our growing commuter clients well into the future," Mayor Costas said in his speech. "This new facility must be located along a railway because some day in the future high-speed train service may well replace, or at least augment, our daily bus service into Chicago." Mayor Costas made those comments during his annual State of the City address Tuesday. You can hear the mayor's entire speech at News Audio On Demand here at our website.
