Porter County Sheriffs Police say a Lowell woman was being flown to a Chicago-area hospital after the Chevy Cobalt she was driving went off the road and struck a tree on State Road 2 south of County Road 100 South in Porter Township just after 10-o'clock this morning. Police say two children in the back seat, ages one-and-a-half and three, both in car seats, suffered minor injuries and are expected to be okay. The accident scene is between Valparaiso and Boone Grove High School, and the woman was being flown out from the high school. Police say the 29-year-old woman suffered a head injury and severe arm injury and had to be extricated from the car. Police say road conditions are believed to have contributed to the crash. Authorities say a vehicle slid off the road in the same area around 6-o'clock this morning.
