A 29 year veteran of the Indiana State Police Department was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries after his unmarked vehicle was struck by a pickup truck this morning on northbound I-65, just south of the U-S 30/Merrillville exit. Indiana State Police Lowell Post reports Master Trooper Aaron Segrest was sitting in his vehicle, with all his emergency lights on, investigating a two-vehicle crash when the crash occurred, around 10am. Authorities report the pickup driven by a 61 year old Star City man, told troopers he was cut off by a semi and when he hit the brakes he lost control and spun out across all lanes, striking the police car. The driver of the pickup and his passenger were also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
