Nearly 60 charitable area organizations received their share of 800-thousand dollars in grant money from Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer and the Michigan City Community Enrichment Corporation at the Blue Chip Casino Awards Banquet Wednesday night.
According to a press release, each year the casino gives three quarters of a million dollars to the enrichment corporation to fund programs and projects that directly impact the community and its citizens. The enrichment corporation board says it received 94 grant applications requesting just under 2-million dollars in funding.
The Michigan City Community Enrichment Corporation originated in 1997 by agreement between the Blue Chip Casino and the City of Michigan City, according to the release.
The Following is a list of organizations that were awarded grants from the Michigan City Community Enrichment Corporation, a non-profit foundation funded by revenue from the Blue Chip Casino.
