There was a public meeting at Munster Town Hall over the weekend, and three others are scheduled, all in LaPorte County and all this Wednesday (March 26th), on two high-profile transit-related topics in the Region. Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission is gathering feedback on funding for the Tier II Environmental Impact Study for the proposed South Shore line expansion to south Lake County, also known as the West Lake extension to Dyer, as well as a new proposed bus service in LaPorte County.
The Triangle Service is a partnership among Michigan City Public Transit, LaPorte TransPorte, La Porte County Board of Commissioners, and Purdue University North Central. that would offer six (6) round trips daily (3 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon) between the cities and the university in Westville. The public meetings in La Porte County are all on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, in the following locations:
1) Purdue University North Central, (MAP) U.S. 421, Westville, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, Rm. 144 in the Library-Student-Faculty building
2) LaPorte City Hall, City Council Chambers, (MAP) 801 Michigan, LaPorte, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
3) Michigan City City Hall, EOC Room (downstairs), (MAP) 100 E. Michigan Blvd., Michigan City, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
