Four Lake County communities have yet to join the county's E-911 consolidation plan. The latest news is the Highland Town Council Monday night saying they'll sign the interlocal when certain conditions are met, conditions expressed in a joint resolution drawn up on behalf of the four communities. Cedar Lake and Schererville have already approved it, and St. John is expected to be next. The resolution, among other things, addresses concerns over cost and staffing commitments. The consolidation is mandated by state law. If it doesn't happen by the end of this year, Lake County stands to lose millions in funds.
