About two-hundred students at Lake Central High School held a sit-in this week after the suicide of a former student. Today's Times reports the principal sent an email to parents saying the protest was not the right way to handle the situation. The sit-in was reportedly over the school not recognizing the former student's death. The emailed letter to parents said the school's protocol for acknowledgment of a suicide death involves minimal publicity “in order to not glorify the suicide.” During the sit-in, one 18-year-old student was removed from the building and arrested on charges that reportedly included resisting arrest and possession of a knife on school property.
