A review of charges for two-counts of neglect has been forwarded to the LaPorte County Prosecutor's Office against a man whose two children were found in his apartment unsupervised. LaPorte Police report a witness who told officers she was performing inspections at Country Acres Apartments around 2:18pm on Monday, and got no answer after she knocked on an apartment door in building four, but could hear the television from outside the building. Police say she accessed the apartment and discovered two six year old boys, who told her their father had left and did not when he would return. Police say officers at the scene reported the odor of burnt marijuana inside the apartment and several marijuana “roaches” left in a bowl on the floor within reach of the two boys. The father arrived back to the apartment while officers were on scene, acknowledge the marijuana and disposed of it.
Police say a copy of the report has been forwarded to Child Protective Services.
