The Michigan City Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested a man for an allegedly abducting a female. Reports say on June 4th the La Porte City Police notified Michigan City police that they were in contact with a female who reportedly agreed to meet man at a house in the 800 block of Fern St. The victim told police that when she decided it was time to leave, the man allegedly grabbed her and tied her up and at one point after attempting to flee he man indicated that he was a police officer and eventually put her into his truck and drove off. Reports say the victim escaped the vehicle causing a commotion which a witness saw and called police. Upon investigation, a detective was able to come up with a suspect, identified as Kenneth Manley, and after a probable cause hearing a warrant was issued for Manley's arrest on Felony charges including Criminal Confinement and Impersonating a public servant. Police say the suspect was arrested without incident on June 6th at his place of work with cash bond set at 15-thousand dollars.
Police Chief Mark Swistek says, "Detective (Jason) Costigan did a great job in putting some pieces of the puzzle together in this case and he received assistance from other divisions of the department as well."
