The Lake County Coroners office is seeking the public's help in a case that dates back to early 2007. On February 26th of that year a young female was found dead in an abandoned garage off Polk Street in Gary, and officials are trying to identify her. Authorities say the decedent was black, 5-foot-4, weighing about 102 pounds, with short black hair styled in corn row, and is believed to have been in her late teens or early twenties. Officials say she had multiple scars in various stages of healing on her face and upper torso from trauma, and that she had been dead for about a day prior to being found. The news release did not list cause of death. Coroner Merrilee Frey says the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has created a facial reconstruction, shown above, to show how the girl might have looked.
