The Lake County Coroners office says a Lake Station man died from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident in Hammond Tuesday night. Indiana State Police at the Lowell Post this morning say a preliminary investigation showed that shortly before 10 pm a 2006 Suzuki was on the ramp from northbound Kennedy Avenue to the eastbound Borman Expressway when the driver entered the curve at an excessive speed, lost control, and was thrown from the motorcycle, coming to rest in the eastbound lane of I-80. Both east and west bound lanes were closed for the landing of an air ambulance but due to the man's injuries he was transported to Community Hospital in Munster by Hammond EMS. Officials say Edward S. Reifsteck III was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital of blunt force trauma. Police say he was wearing a helmet.
