Team manager Joe Kusiak tells us the Porter County Region team fell in Monday's State American Legion Baseball Championship game at Plymouth, the 14-7 loss to Terre Haute Post 170 ending a great season. Kusiak says "they played well but could not overcome the additional 22 innings played to get to the final game" referring to six games in five days,with four extra innings . Terre Haute played 4 games 4 days.
Danny Synder of South Central High School won the Sportsmanship Award for his 12 innings of pitching and all-around performance. Porter County was sponsored by Post 94 of Valparaiso and Post 170 of Chesterton.
The players, 19 and under, on Porter County's team come from Valparaiso, Chesterton, Andrean and South Central High Schools.
