Michigan City Police are asking local motorists to avoid using Cleveland Avenue as a detour during the Woodland Avenue construction project – especially with the first day of school quickly approaching. Sgt. Chris Yagelski says there are no signals or stop signs at Coolspring and Cleveland, and there've been big backups through that area. Police are also re-directing the contractor of the Woodland Avenue project to change the signage to detour traffic to Franklin Street as the alternate.
