Michigan City Police say over 90-percent of child safety seats are used or installed incorrectly. There's a free car safety seat inspection event in Michigan City today, 1 pm to 3pm, at the Indiana University Health Medical Offices. As part of a continuing effort to keep children safe, Sgt. Ken Havlin of the Michigan City Police and other certified Child Safety Technicians will be on hand to inspect car seats and booster seats, check for wear and tear and any recalls, and teach parents how to properly transport babies and children. A limited number of free car seats are available on a first-come-first serve basis. no appointment or registration is necessary!
