A statement from Indiana University says Gary-native and former longtime Indiana University Trustee Fred Eichhorn Jr. passed away Wednesday. I-U President Michael McRobbie says Eichhorn's fifteen years as a member of the board included tenures as president, vice president and chair of several committees. Eichhorn was a resident of northwest Indiana for most his life until moving to Bloomington about twelve years ago. Eichhorn, a retired attorney who was also a past president of the Indiana Bar Association, served on the board from 1990 to 2005.
