City of Gary News Release: Gary Police officials are calling the City’s second Gun Buyback hosted this past Saturday “another success.” According to Deputy Police Chief Larry McKinley, a total of 107 guns were turned in exchange for Wal-Mart gift cards. Local churches once again partnered with the GPD to serve as the turn-in locations.
Police Chief Wade Ingram and his command staff monitored all of the turn-in locations and stated everything went smoothly.
“The previous gun turn-in was successful, so citizens were asking if we could do it again,” said Ingram. “Active participation like this by Gary residents is one way to help us to keep the city safer.”
Ingram also intends to review his budget in hopes of hosting more gun buybacks in 2013. For more information, contact Chief Ingram at (219) 881-1201.
