No one nationwide matched all six numbers in Saturday night's Powerball drawing, so the jackpot has rolled into record territory, now an estimated 425-million dollars for this Wednesday night (Nov 28 2012). Hoosier Lottery officials say only one other time in North American lottery history has a jackpot run crossed over the $400 million mark and that happened just eight months ago when a Mega Millions® jackpot skyrocketed all the way to an eventual high of 656-million-dollars.

News release from Hoosier Lottery:

$425 million: Powerball® jackpot rolls to record high

More than 56,000 winning tickets sold
in Indiana for Saturday night's draw

INDIANAPOLIS - Powerball is known for its big jackpots, but never has it produced one this big. Wednesday's estimated jackpot of $425 million is the largest ever in the history of the game.

No one nationwide matched all six numbers in Saturday night's drawing, and as a result, Powerball has rolled into record territory. Only one other time in North American lottery history has a jackpot run crossed over the $400 million mark and that happened just eight months ago when a Mega Millions® jackpot skyrocketed all the way to an eventual high of $656 million.

In Indiana, 56,513 Powerball tickets purchased for Saturday night's drawing were prize winners, including more than 250 tickets that matched at least four of the six winning numbers. Those six numbers were:  22-32-37-44-50 PB:34.

Players in Indiana have until 9:58 p.m. (Eastern) Wednesday to purchase their shot at the record jackpot. As with all Hoosier Lottery games, the net income generated from sales of Powerball in Indiana stays in Indiana to benefit Hoosiers.

The mission of the Hoosier Lottery is to maximize net income for the state in a socially-responsible manner. In fiscal year 2012, the Hoosier Lottery generated $211 million in surplus revenue which was used to significantly reduce the motor vehicle excise tax for all Hoosier drivers and also supported the pension funds for retired Indiana teachers, police and firefighters. Player prizes for the fiscal year totaled $533 million and $60 million was earned by Indiana retailers on the sale of Hoosier Lottery products.

Since its inception in 1989, the Hoosier Lottery has produced more than $4 billion for the citizens of Indiana, $1 billion in commissions and bonuses for participating Indiana retailers, and has paid out more than $8.8 billion in player prizes.

The Hoosier Lottery reminds all players to play responsibly.
