Reward Offered in Cruelty Case

The Humane Society of the United States announced today they are offering a reward of up to five-thousand dollars for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for killing a family dog named “Pearl” in northwest Indiana. The Hebron Police Department is seeking the public's help as authorities say the dog was found in a baited animal trap they allege was intentionally set near a residence across from the town's community center. around 11:30 in the morning earlier this month in the six-hundred block of North Main Street. Anne Sterling, Indiana state director for the Humane Society of the United States, says they hope “this reward will bring forward anyone with information about this tragic crime.”Anyone with information is asked to call the Hebron Police Departmentl at 219-996-2747.

The HSUS offers rewards in animal cruelty cases across the country and works to strengthen laws against animal cruelty. The HSUS recently doubled its standard cruelty reward from $2,500 to $5,000 thanks to a generous donation from HSUS board member Cathy Kangas and her husband Ed Kangas of New Canaan, Conn. www.humanesociety.org
