First District Congressman Pete Visclosky today is urging the leadership in the House of Representatives to reopen the government after a hearing scheduled today before the US International Trade Commission was cancelled due to the partial government shutdown. Visclosky says the cancellation of this hearing, which he was set to testify on behalf of the domestic steel industry, is just one example of how the shutdown impacts our economy, costs American jobs and threatens northwest Indiana's steel industry. Vosclosky says this gives foreign nations and companies free reign to continue to violate our trade laws and jeopardizes the livelihood of American workers.
