Storm cleanup continues in the Region. Northern Indiana Public Service Company says by Thursday evening, NIPSCO field personnel had restored more than 95 percent of the more than 45,000 total electric customers system-wide who experienced power outages as a result of Wednesday evening’s severe weather. As of this morning that number was down to 500, with about half of those in Crown Point, one of the harder hit areas. NIPSCO and contracted crews will continue working around the clock to restore as many customers as possible today. NIPSCO says restoration for most of the remaining customers is expected by late Friday evening, but a few individual customer outages may extend into early Saturday due to the extensive system repairs needed
