The area of exceptional drought in Indiana has expanded according to the latest US Drought Monitor released this morning. The map now shows nearly a quarter of the state, starting from the southwest corner, at the most severe level. Much of northwest Indiana remains in moderate drought, but the majority of Newton and Jasper Counties actually improved, moving from severe into the moderate classification.
