Valparaiso University officials today say a campus-wide alert was issued in response to an unspecified threat of violence alleged to occur today, Friday, Sept. 14 during Chapel Break. A university spokersperson says Valparaiso University Police, local authorities and the FBI investigated the threat and a thorough human and canine search of campus did not find anything suspicious. VU officials also say additional security measures have been implemented, and authorities continue their investigation. VU says classes remain in session and all regular activities remain scheduled.
Students at two other college campuses -- the University of Texas and North Dakota State University in Fargo – were also on alert earlier due to threats. Students and staff and University of Texas have since been given the all-clear.
