Published reports say the former pastor of First Baptist Church in Hammond has an initial appearance in federal court this afternoon after being charged with interstate transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. A news release issued by the US Attorneys office says 54-year-old Jack Schaap of Dyer has signed a plea agreement filed in conjunction with the felony information following an investigation by the FBI. Schaap's federal court appearance in Hammond today is scheduled for 3pm
