Purdue Cal Students Tackle National Project

A national database that lets you access the names of those who have been convicted of domestic violence is getting a makeover, courtesy of some college students in the Region. Purdue University Calumet's Department of Computer Information and Graphics Professor and department head Chuck Winer says he was contacted by the registry's founder and Executive Director, Myra Spearman, on building a new database, from the ground up, and to add some changes, which graduate Sean Robertson of Munster did through an experimental learning opportunity last Spring. Winer says 2 students are currently redesigning the database, creating different entities to make it easier to store and retrieve information from the database, as well as changing the interface that people use to access the site.
