Indiana State Police say a 37-year-old Hammond woman and her passenger were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday after the force of a tire blowing out sent the car into one barrier wall, then spinning 180-degrees across I-65 in Tippecanoe County near Lafayette before coming to rest against the opposite wall. Probationary Trooper Weslee Ennis says the fact that both were wearing seatbelts probably helped in reducing their injuries, adding without a seatbelt, "they could have been tossed around inside the car and possibly ejected". No citations were issued.
