The full Commission of the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission held a public meeting Monday with only one item of their agenda--considering employment of a new NIRPC Executive Director. Following an executive session that lasted about 45-minutes past the advertised start time of the public meeting, the new director was announced. By a unanimous vote by all 34 commissioners present, the Planning Commission approved Tyson Warner as NIRPC's Executive Director effective January 1st of 2013 through December 31, 2014. Warner is presently the holding a comparable executive director position for about a half dozen counties in Kansas, and had previously been the planning director in nearby, Will County, Illinois.
