Porter County officials want to remind residents that the last day of the 2012 regular season for public compost sites is this Saturday. The Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County reports the Boone Grove site will remain closed after December 1st, until the regular season begins in April, but the Valparaiso compost site will be open on Saturday, January 5th, from 9am to 2pm, so Porter County residents can recycle their live Christmas trees, wreaths, and other organic holiday waste.
