A 21 year old Gary man could be facing auto theft charges after police arrested him Wednesday night. The Lake County Sheriff's Department reports a radio transmission by the Gary Police Department of a vehicle stolen, at 45^th and Broadway, was heard by Detective James Stahl at approximately 8:30pm, who observed the vehicle pass him as it headed north on Broadway. After pulling the vehicle over for a traffic violation, the driver and passenger reportedly fled the vehicle on foot. Authorities report the suspect, Joshua Kirkland, was later located and taken into custody in the area of 24^th Avenue and Adams Street.
