Two firefighters were taken to a local hospital for back injuries after an apartment fire that displaced more than twenty people in East Chicago, as the Times reports fire crews responded to a two-story apartment building in the 48-hundred block of Northcote shortly after 3-o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The report says the fire is believed to have started in a first-floor bedroom, but at last word the cause was not known.
